Franklin's Cafe - Griffith Park
About This Spot
Stepping into Franklin's Cafe at Griffith Park, you’re greeted by a calm, understated energy that balances the buzz of nearby city life with a genuine sense of ease. Nestled just off Vermont Avenue and adjacent to the golf course, this spot welcomes a mix of locals and visitors seeking a moment of respite while exploring the hills or the observatory. The minimalist decor and warm smiles from the staff set a tone that feels both thoughtfully curated and comfortably unpretentious.
The pace here invites you to slow down—whether you're grabbing a morning coffee to go or settling in for a relaxed lunch where light chatter and the soft hum of nature outside mingle effortlessly. There’s an inviting harmony between indoor and outdoor seating, making it just as easy to savor the shifting light in the courtyard as it is to enjoy the cozy indoor spaces sheltered from the LA sun.
Franklin’s menu reflects this approachable attitude with classic café staples reimagined in fresh, satisfying ways. From breakfast sandwiches that carry a comforting familiarity, yet surprise with touches like garlic aioli or house-roasted vegetables, to hearty burgers inspired by standout California originals, the offerings gently reflect the diverse influences and appetite of this vibrant city. It’s a place where each bite reveals thoughtful layering rather than flashy ambition—perfect for lingering moments or fueling a day of discovery.
Perhaps what truly lingers beyond the food is the humanness of the place. Staff members who remember your name, share a laugh, or make a fuss over your canine companion add layers of connection that elevate a meal into a simple, joyful experience. Franklin’s Cafe feels like the kind of local gem where you can quietly people-watch, catch a game, or simply enjoy the afternoon light — all while feeling part of a community that values warmth as much as your plate.

Nice spot here! Very cool decor. Adjacent to the golf facility. Usually enough parking in the lot out front. Cool minimalist ecstatic. Food and drink was varied and pretty deep in terms of selection. The pricing is likely on par with typical golf cafes (a little inflated).

During our visit to this spot en route to the Griffith Observatory, we indulged in a Bimbimap fried rice bowl paired with a couple of cappuccinos. While the initial cost gave us pause, we were pleasantly surprised by the bowl's ample portion size; it was more than enough for two. Notably, the unexpected touch of spiciness caught our attention in the most delightful way.

Really awesome Kimchi! My 11 year old daughter said it was also the best burger she's ever had. Prices are about what I'd expect with a big tourist spot in LA. But totally worth it!!

Me and my friend had such an amazing and delicious lunch at Franklin's Cafe last Sunday, 11/02/25. Extremely welcoming staff, Lady R, Andy and Liv had big smiles the whole time and were very kind people, especially Lady R. I had my Husky Spirit with me and the staff was pet welcoming and made sure my Spirit had lots of love and attention and nice cool water. Lady R loved Spirit and he did too. She even offered to walk Spirit while we eat our delicious lunch, wow, it doesn't get any better. :) I would recommend the smashed burger with fries, yummy, couldn't do it better if I made it myself. I will return with Spirit to explore more of the menu options and just to be there with the friendly and accommodating staff. btw: great pricing and a very clean bathroom. You will be very happy to be there in the great atmosphere and wonderful food and above all the very kind staff. :) Do not hesitate!

Unfortunately this is the only photo I have, since I’ve ate my Mac n Cheese pretty quickly. We came back 3 times during our stay due to GREAT pricing (!!!) and awesome service. The staff was amazing, the food was exceptional and the court in the back is a great view. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, a lot of food and snack options as well. Oh, great to watch some football too.

It was open from 7am. I had breakfast during waiting in line for the concert at the greek theater. I ordered salmon quiche and coffee. The taste was just okay, but I could be chilled before the concert.

Came here Tuesday in the afternoon and it was great! Plenty of parking (amazing in LA), great coffee and very friendly and helpful Baristas, and the food was really good. I had the breakfast burrito and it was so much food and really delicious, also prompt service. Nice fun spot to go to after a hike or before tee time, or just if you’re going for a long walk up Griffith. Would recommend and come back. Also they have an open mic here? Sounds like a good time to come back!
